Introduction
The Internet is a wonderful tool for fostering participation in club sports such as Triathlon. Simplifying communication between athletes encourages participation in both racing and training. Making it easy for club administrators to get information out to all members results in a smoother running club, and higher numbers at club events. However, to enable this to happen, clubs need to store information about individuals in a database and this is where privacy becomes an issue.
At Triclubs.com
we take the privacy
of our members very seriously. However, rather than tell you how we will
protect your personal details, we give you the control to determine who
will have access to the information in your personal profile.
To better protect your
privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices
and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected
and used.
The Information We Collect:
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the TriClubs.com
website.
If you wish, you can use
the site completely anonymously, but there will be certain parts of the
site that only members can gain access to. To become a member of TriClubs.com
you need to supply a minimum amount of information about yourself
including your name and email address. Beyond that, the level of detail
stored within your membership record depends on what you feel happy to
provide, and how you would like to use the facilities on the site. To
facilitate communication with other members you may choose to provide
basic contact information as well (phone, mobile, etc).
Your club administrators
may also add information to your member record, but this information will
only be accessible to yourself and the club administrators (unless you
choose to make it available to others).
If you want to register
for an event, you will need to supply sufficient detail so that the event
organisers can process your application. It is up to the event organiser
to determine exactly what information is required for this purpose.
The Way We Use Information:
We create a membership record so that you can create your own customised home page at our site. Within your membership record you can provide as much detail as you like. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information from your member details page. You control whether this information is private, available to fellow club members, available to all
TriClubs.com members or available to the general public. If you need to enter personal details on a form within
TriClubs.com (e.g. event registration), your membership record will be to automatically fill in any fields where the information has been recorded by you.
The personal information
you enter into an online registration form is collected
for the sole purpose of processing your application. This information is
only available to the event organisers. If you register for an event, your
name only will appear on the list of registered competitors.
Event results
include your place and times when competing in an event. If you have
competed in an event and your club posts the results on TriClubs.com,
your result details will be available on TriClubs.com.
Finally, we never use or
share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in
ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an
opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
Our Commitment To Data Security:
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the
correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical,
electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the
information we collect online.
